Celtic player ratings v Ross County: Emerging star is 8/10

COMMENT By Harvey Byrne

Football Insider rates the performances of each of Celtic’s players during their 2-0 win against Ross County on Wednesday in the Premiership.

Craig Gordon 7 – The experienced shot stopper didn’t have a lot to do, but did a job when called upon.

Mikael Lustig 6 – Had a solid game at right-back and ensured Ross County didn’t get any joy down the left.

Jozo Simunovic 5 – Looked shaky at the back and had to be saved by Sviatchenko on a couple of occasions.

Erik Sviatchenko 8 – The centre-back was solid across the 90 minutes and ensured that the Ross County attack didn’t get a look in on goal. He even got up the other end of the pitch to score a long range wonder goal.

Emilio Izaguirre 7 – Made some good attacking runs down the right flank, but his final ball was often lacking.

Scott Brown 6 – The captain battled strongly in the centre of the park, but was useless in the opposition half.

Stuart Armstrong 6 – Struggled to make a number of passes in the midfield. Not the best of performances from the 24-year-old despite his goal.

Ryan Christie 8 – Was composed on the ball and looks to be an emerging star for the Hoops.

Scott Sinclair 6 – Was fairly quiet across the 90 minutes, but he was unlucky not to score a first half header, while he also had a penalty turned down in the second half.

James Forrest 7 – Caused some problems to the Ross County back line with some dangerous balls. He was unfortunate to finish without an assist.

Leigh Griffiths 6 – The in form forward struggled to get into the match and he was fairly anonymous before being brought off.
