Celtic set for big windfall after Leeds news – Keith Wyness
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Celtic will bank an Adidas windfall if their success in the Champions League continues.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Hoops are “in a good position to turn the heat up” on their Scottish rivals.
Adidas and Celtic currently have a kit manufacturer deal which is set to expire in 2025.
However, reports have suggested that the German company are following their renewal with Leeds United by penning a new agreement with the Hoops.
Celtic have thrived in the Champions League this term, already dispatching Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig and drawing away in Atalanta.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are now well-placed to progress to the playoff round in the new year.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (6 November) that Celtic have already earned more than £31million in prize money from the Champions League this season.
Celtic to bank Adidas windfall and Champions League prize money, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It will be a bonus-related contract and a lot will depend on their Champions League performance.
“Let’s see if they can capitalise on these good results.
“If they can perform and get through to the playoffs, that will be worth a lot more money.
“They’re poised and in a good position to turn up the heat on the other Scottish clubs.

“Celtic are still a work-in-progress.
“They’ve got a chance in this Champions League. Brand deals, commercial deals, TV money – all these things will come with success.”
