Report: Celtic braced for £3m playmaker bid, two more clubs interested
By Abigail Withey
Celtic are braced to receive a £3million bid from Premier League side Southampton for midfielder Stuart Armstrong, according to a report.
The Express has revealed on their website that the Saints are eager to sign the 25-year-old and are the current frontrunners in the pursuit of the playmaker.
The newspaper claims that fellow top flight clubs Everton and West Bromwich Albion also have their sights set on the proven attacker.
It is understood that Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is very keen for the Scotsman to stay at Parkhead, but the club and player are on different pages when it comes to a new deal.
Rodgers recently spoke about Armstrong’s situation and stated that the issue needed to be sorted.

He told the Daily Record: “Stuart’s position will be sorted one way or another.”
“He was terrific last season and unfortunately, this is effecting his game. It needs to be resolved one way or another.”
Armstrong moved to the Glaswegian club from Dundee United in 2015 and has since proven himself as a worthy member of the first team.
Last season during the club’s magnificent treble winning campaign the midfielder had a stunning run, playing in 47 games where he netted 17 goals and provided seven assists throughout all competitions for the Bhoys.
Football Insider verdict:
Celtic must act fast and do their utmost to extend Armstrong’s time with the treble winners. With the 25-year-old entering the final 12 months of his contract the club risk losing him for free next summer, where he will be allowed to leave and could earn a lot more elsewhere if the right offer comes in, especially from an English Premier League club. The two-capped Scotland international was a key contributor last season, and will be crucial to the club if they are hoping to replicate their success in the new 2017/18 campaign. Although he’s had a tricky start the the season, he will find his feet again.
In other Celtic transfer news, the Hoops are on the hunt to sign a dazzling attacking midfielder as late window interest to reach fever pitch.
