Celtic have registered their interest in signing Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly this summer, Football Insider understands.
The Hoops are ready to battle a number of English Championship clubs for the signing of the 23-year-old after their scouts were blown away by his improvement this season.
SPL club Livi signed Kelly from Rangers last summer and agreed to insert a £50,000-a-week release clause in his two-year deal rather than settle for a one-year contract with no buyout.
A source close to the player has told Football Insider that Celtic have made contact over landing the Ibrox academy product in the forthcoming window.
The Hoops are keen to bolster their keeping ranks amid doubts over the future over 36-year-old Craig Gordon, who has lost his No1 spot to Scott Bain and is out of contract in a year’s time.
There remains some doubt as to whether Kelly would be willing to be a reserve at Celtic after failing to make an appearance for Rangers during his time at the club.
Kelly is keen to be a number one at a leading SPL club or one in the English Championship.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that one of the club’s star players is set to sign for a big hitter.
