Celtic senior man makes huge claim ahead of Bayern Munich clash

By James Black

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers insists his side can get a result against Bayern Munich when the sides meet on Tuesday in the Champions League.

The Hoops lost 3-0 when the two meet a few weeks ago at the Allianz Arena but Rodgers believes his side can get something from Jupp Heynckes’ Bavarian giants.

A win for the Scottish champions would virtually guarantee their place in the Europa League after Christmas while leaving them with an outside shot making the last-16 of the Champions League.

If Brendan Rodgers’ side lose, their elimination from Europe’s premier club competition will be confirmed.

The Hoops currently sit in three points behind Bayern after three group games.

Rodgers believes if his side play to their best they can shock the Bundesliga giants and was bullish when asked if his side can take the three points.

“(Celtic will) find a way to be competitive,” Rodgers said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by Radio Clyde’s Alison Conroy on Twitter.

“We have to show we have the qualities to do that.”

Celtic suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the competition and will be wary of suffering another heavy defeat.

PSG play Anderlecht in the other game in the group on Tuesday night before the Hoops travel to face the big-spending French side in the next round of fixtures.

Anderlecht visit Celtic Park at the start of December in the final round of fixtures and – after beating the Belgians away from home – Celtic will be confident of taking maximum points in their final game.

In other Celtic news, Chris Sutton has been critical of his Hoops fan favourite, comparing him to a £52million Premier League player.
