Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers gives hilarious answer to Ronaldo v Messi question
By James Black
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hilariously swerved the ‘Ronaldo v Messi’ question at an event on Glasgow – by choosing former Celtic striker Dariusz Dziekanowski instead.
Rodgers was asked by TV personality Eamonn Holmes who he would sign if he had the choice of the Portuguese icon or Argentinian phenomenon at an ‘Evening with Brendan Rodgers’ event at Glasgow’s Hydro Arena.
Polish striker Dziekanowski spent three years in Glasgow between 1989 and 1992 after signing from Legia Warsaw and was known as “Jackie” by Hoops fans.
Dziekanowski scored 22 times in 66 appearances and became a cult hero for supporters and Rodgers has joked that he would rather have him than the two La Liga stars.
“If you had the money and they were ready to go…Messi or Ronaldo?” Holmes asked, in a video shared by Celtic’s official YouTube account.

“Jackie Dziekanowski” Rodgers replied, to cheers from the fans in attendance.
Rodgers has been a huge success in his time at Celtic so far.
The former Liverpool boss took the reigns at Celtic Park in May 2016 and has yet to lose a domestic game as Hoops boss as his side racked up a domestic treble last season.
The Northern Irishman has also taken the Scottish champions to the group stages of the Champions League in successive seasons and looks set to earn the Hoops’ first European football after Christmas in five years.
The Bhoys are currently top of the Scottish Premiership and face St. Johnstone on Saturday as they bid to break a 100-year-old record for the longest unbeaten domestic run in British football history.
In other Celtic news, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed his transfer plans for the January window.
