Celtic ‘set for windfall’: The hidden revenue boost revealed ahead of massive Rangers showdown
Celtic and Rangers are both currently chasing Hearts in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
Celtic suffered a crushing blow in their bid to claim a fifth successful league title against Hibernian on Sunday (22 February), where they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Parkhead.
Meanwhile, Rangers also dropped points after drawing 2-2 against struggling Livingston, allowing Hearts to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points.
The Old Firm duo are set to go head to head in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox on Sunday (1 March), potentially providing them both with a chance to make it a two-horse race for the title.
The Glasgow rivals will then face off again just a week later in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Why Rangers could be set to pay Celtic record-breaking fee
Rangers will once again play host to Celtic at Ibrox in their Scottish Cup clash on 8 March.
Danny Rohl’s side secured their place in the fifth round with a convincing 8-0 victory over Queen’s Park, while the Hoops required injury time in their 2-1 win against Dundee.
Although Rangers will earn more from the Scottish Cup showdown, Martin O’Neill’s side are also in line to land a significant windfall from the fixture.
It has been confirmed adult tickets will cost £53, with junior prices set at £43.
Scotland’s Coefficient reported on Monday (23 February) the tie will likely result in the largest sum of money to ever be exchanged between the Old Firm rivals.
It projected the gate receipts at Ibrox to exceed £2.5million, with Celtic set to bank around £925,000 of that figure given they are entitled to 37 per cent under the SFA rules.
That is actually more than the Hoops would earn if they were to go on and lift the trophy.
It has been revealed the winners of the Scottish Cup will bank just £363k in prize money, with £125k of broadcast fees taking the total to £488k.
Why Celtic are set for financial blow after on-field issues
Celtic earned £292k in prize money after losing on penalties to Aberdeen in last season’s Scottish Cup final.
That is a fraction of the £38m the Hoops generated from reaching the knock-out round play-offs of the Champions League, where they were narrowly beaten by Bayern Munich.
That helped the Scottish champions post a new club-record revenue last season after their turnover surged from £124.6m in 2023-24 to £143.6m.
However, that figure is expected to fall this season after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, O’Neill’s side are facing an uphill battle to reach the last 16 of the Europa League, having lost 4-1 against Stuttgart in the first leg of their knock-out round play-off tie at Parkhead last week.
The Bundesliga side will host Celtic in the second leg on Thursday (26 February).
