Celtic told to complete signing of ‘generational talent’ as £8m bid submitted

Celtic are long-term admirers of Motherwell star Lennon Miller and could enter the race for his signature with a formal bid this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 4 March that Lyon are also keen on Miller, 18, and are ready to make an offer of up to £8million.

The midfielder has already amassed 67 senior appearances for Motherwell – scoring five goals and providing nine assists.

Celtic have signed just one Scottish player in the last four seasons – the capture of Dundee star Luke McCowan last summer (2024).

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested Celtic could pull a U-turn on that policy with Miller firmly in their sights.

Celtic target Miller is a ‘generational talent’

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has claimed Miller is a “generational talent” for Scotland after watching him in action.

The midfielder is under contract with Motherwell until May 2026.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Celtic have proven they can go international for talent, in Japan and other areas.

“They haven’t really focused on Scottish talent as much.

“Rangers, historically, have done that and maybe Aberdeen could look more at that.

“Lennon Miller, the son of Lee Miller, he has got all the talent. I’ve seen him play for Motherwell a few times now and I’ve been very impressed.

“I think he is a generational talent.”

McCoist tips Rodgers for another Celtic exit

Football Insider has been told by Ally McCoist (5 March) that Brendan Rodgers could be tempted to leave Celtic again in search of a new challenge.

Celtic’s dramatic draw with Bayern Munich last month, which saw them knocked out of the Champions League on aggregate, raised eyebrows all over Europe.

The 52-year-old left Celtic Park in 2019 to join Leicester City after winning three Scottish Premiership titles in a row.
