Celtic star bids farewell as deal is terminated – confirmed new signing on the way
Alex Valle took to social media to thank the “amazing” Celtic fans after his season-long loan from Barcelona was cut short.
The 20-year-old had his loan at the Scottish champions terminated by parent club Barcelona and was subsequently sent to Italian side Como for the rest of the season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club have a £5million buy option in the deal as Barcelona scramble for much-needed funds.
The left-back has been in and out of the Celtic side this season, starting 10 of his 19 games across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing five assists in his 1014 minutes of action.
Celtic working on Kieren Tierney deal after Alex Valle has his loan terminated
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Aston Villa, Rodgers confirmed Kieren Tierney is set to rejoin in the summer.
Rodgers said: “Ideally it would [happen in January] but, at this moment, he’s still an Arsenal player. I think everyone is agreed that it will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great.“
Valle took to Instagram to commemorate his time at Celtic, saying: “Dear Celtic and Celtic fans,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to join such a big and historic club like Celtic. I’ve made my Champions League debut and I have won the first title of my professional career.
It was short but I tried to enjoy and give my best every day for the badge and for its amazing fans, massive part of the club. Thanks again for everything. Hail Hail.”
Rodgers’ side will travel south of the border for their final game of the new-look Champions League league phase against Aston Villa on Wednesday (January 29).
They will then turn their attention back to the Scottish Premier League with a trip to Motherwell on Sunday (February 2).
