Celtic star hints at imminent Rodgers senior switch, hands Hoops huge boost
Celtic star Patrick Roberts has handed the Hoops a huge boost by confirming he is fit and firing after his injury blow while hinting that Brendan Rodgers is set to switch things up in the senior side.
The Manchester City loanee has been missing from action for the majority of the season after picking up a thigh injury, a blow which has limited him to making just 12 appearances across all competitions, the last of which came at the end November last year.
After being left as an unused substitute for the Hoops’ last three matches, he has confirmed that he is ready to feature if called upon, and hinted that the international break might see the boss switch things up in order to rest those who have played for their countries.
He told Celtic View, as quoted by the club’s official website: “Some of the lads coming back might need rested and that gives me a chance to start and get some more game-time in.
“Myself and some of the other boys are coming back from injuries now while others have played a huge number of games, so it’s good timing for the team.
“I feel like I can jump straight back into the action for our next game.”

Celtic will return from the international break with a home tie against Ross County, having had to settle for a 0-0 draw versus Motherwell in their last outing.
Football Insider verdict
Roberts’ imminent return will be exactly what the Hoops faithful want to see after the international break, and it is quite possible this will be the final stretch of time the fans will get to see the winger. Manchester City seem almost certain to try him out back in England or sell him on this summer, and as much as they would like to, the Hoops will struggle to compete with any other potential suitors financially. This may be considered a long farewell then, and he would love to play his part in helping the club secure another domestic treble. Six trophies in two years is some going for the youngster, and no matter where he ends up, he will always be fondly remembered by the Hoops.
