Celtic star recommended by Carl Starfelt’s agent to be sold soon – sources
Gustaf Lagerbielke is expected to leave Celtic this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider journalist and Scottish expert Daniel Bowers explained on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the central defender is a “stick-on to leave.”
The 24-year-old was brought into the club to replace Carl Starfelt when he departed for Celta Vigo and was signed on the recommendation of Starfelt’s agent.
However, Lagerbielke hasn’t been a regular in Brendan Rodgers’ side, which has left question marks regarding whether he was signed for the manager, or if he had a say in the situation.
Fans believe the Swedish international joining the Hoops was a “puzzling” signing, and now it appears he could be heading for the exit door.
Celtic have barely used Lagerbielke
The defender initially joined the Scottish side last summer on a deal worth around £3million from IF Elfsborg.
However, he’s made just seven appearances in the Scottish Champions League this season, with Rodgers preferring other defensive options at his disposal.
Despite his lack of minutes, Lagerbielke did produce one memorable moment last season when he scored a late winner against Feyenoord in the Champions League.

In other news, Celtic fans have raged over potential new signing.
