Dembele outlines bold personal target for Celtic season after return v Ross County
By James Black
Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has set himself the ambitious target of doing better than last year after he returned from injury against Ross County on Saturday.
Dembele scored 32 times in 49 appearances for the Hoops as they won a domestic treble last term, and that tally will no doubt be a bold target to reach.
The striker returned from a two-month injury layoff in Celtic’s 4-0 win over County and scored his first goal of the season after 41 minutes to cap-off his first start since July.
Odsonne Edouard replaced Dembele after an hour and the ex-Fulham ace left the field to a fantastic ovation from a Hoops support that was happy to see their star man return.
Dembele hopes that – despite missing the start of the season – that he can go on and top his achievements of last term as Celtic aim for a seventh successive Scottish Premiership title.

“Last year’s gone. It’s another year and I hope to be even better than last year.” Dembele said after the match, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
“You have to stay focused and work hard to make sure when you come back you are even better.”
Dembele looked a constant threat against Ross County as they cruised to an easy win which extended their lead at the top of the table to two points.
The 21-year-old has returned just in time for next weekend’s trip to Ibrox to face Rangers for the first time this season and then the Champions League tie with Anderlecht in Belgium.
Wednesday’s trip to face Dundee in the League Cup should see Dembele get another start as he builds up his match fitness.
Transfer speculation over the summer linked Dembele with a big-money transfer to a host of European clubs but the Hoops held onto their star man in their bid for seven-in-a-row.
The win over Ross County was Celtic’s 55th domestic game without defeat.
Dembele joined Celtic in 2016 from Fulham after his contract at Craven Cottage expired.
