Celtic summer transfer budget revealed as ‘Rodgers makes huge demand’

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to take his side to the next level next season after their exploits in the Champions League this term.

Football Insider revealed last week (3 April) that Rodgers wants “huge” transfer backing this summer with his long-term future uncertain.

He will have just 12 months left on his contract in June and is on track to deliver yet another domestic treble at Parkhead.

Celtic‘s latest accounts show the club’s cash reserves are now down to £65.4million after the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed how much Rodgers is likely to get to spend on new arrivals this summer.

Rodgers could get £20-30m Celtic war chest, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Rodgers could have £20-30million to spend on new arrivals this summer.

Celtic brought Jota back to the club and signed Jeffrey Schlupp on loan in the January transfer window.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Look, Celtic will probably have about £100million in the bank very soon.

“I’d say Brendan will get £20-30million in transfer budget this summer.

“When they’ve spent similar amounts in the past, they haven’t spent it well.

“They’ll have to do some harder work on the targets they are trying to pick up.

“Brendan will have to convince the board that the players he wants are worth it.”

Celtic could sign Callum McGregor replacement for ‘£3m’

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 31 March that Rodgers has identified Augsburg midfielder Elvis Rexhbecaj as an ideal successor to Callum McGregor at Celtic.

Celtic are likely to succeed with a cut-price bid of roughly £3–3.5million for the Kosovo international.

Central midfield will be one of Celtic’s priority positions in need of strengthening this summer with long-time captain McGregor turning 32 in June.
