Reported Celtic transfer target Lewis Morgan revealed he is “flattered” by Brendan Rodgers’ comments – and admits it will give him confidence to maintain his performances for St. Mirren.
Celtic have been tracking the midfielder, with The Scottish Sun reporting that the Hoops had him watched while on international duty last week.
The Celtic boss singled out the 21-year-old for praise, and Morgan thinks it can help him get better amid speculation linking him with moves to Celtic and Glasgow rivals Rangers.
Morgan’s St. Mirren contract expires at the end of the season and has already scored eight times this season to help the Buddies to the top of the table.
The Scotland Under-21 ace was recently named Championship Player of the Month and admits he hopes to help St. Mirren win promotion back to Scotland’s top-flight before moving on.

“It is nice and flattering to get praise and stuff, especially from someone like Brendan Rodgers,” Morgan said as quoted by the Scottish Sun website.
“That gives me a lot of confidence to keep doing what I am doing at the moment.
“It is great to get positive comments and hopefully that can help me take my game to the next level.
“I think if I can help St Mirren win the Championship and then gain a move, that would be in everybody’s best interests.”
He is also said to be attracting interest from Swansea, Cardiff and Birmingham while Burton Albion had a £200,000 bid for Morgan knocked back this summer.
Morgan was involved with the Scottish Under-21 side as the fell to a 3-0 defeat against England at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium last week and was watched by a host of scouts.
Morgan will almost certainly be in action for St. Mirren on Saturday afternoon when they face Dumbarton in the Scottish Championship.
The Buddies are currently one point clear of Dundee United at the top of the table are are a much-improved side from the one which struggled to a mid-table place last season.
In other Celtic transfer news, the club are joint favourites to sign a left-footed midfield creator who has demolished the Hoops in the past.
