Celtic teammates ‘scared’ of Kyogo Furuhashi after what expert has spotted

Frank McAvennie has claimed the Celtic players are “scared” of Kyogo Furuhashi.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Kyogo is missing having Reo Hatate in the midfield as other players seem worried about losing possession if they play the ball to the striker.

Hatate has not featured for the Hoops since the 3-1 win over Hibernian on 18 March when he was subbed off after just 13 minutes with an injury.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Saturday (22 April), Ange Postecoglou said the 25-year-old is “close” to a return.

The midfielder will have a week to train ahead of the crucial Scottish Cup semi-final clash against Rangers on Sunday (30 April).

McAvennie insisted Kyogo plays better when he has Hatate behind him.

I watch the runs of Kyogo and I think if that was me, Paul McStay would have tried to find him every time,” he told Football Insider.

I think Hatate does that a lot.

The more movement Kyogo makes the more players will find him but I just think the players are scared to make the passes in case they lose possession.

I see Kyogo tackling players and winning the ball at the edge of his own box, that is a great appetite. It is not just him it is the whole team, even when they are playing badly they want to fight for each other and it is a great attitude.
