Celtic will soon complete the signing of Charlton Athletic ace Alfie Doughty, according to Alan Hutton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the ex-Scotland international is confident the Hoops’ pursuit will be successful.
Football Insider reported today that Celtic are set to launch a third bid of around £800,000 as negotiations continue with the Londoners over a transfer.
The Londoners want a sell-on clause included as part of the deal for the 20-year-old.
Hutton told Football Insider: “We’ve spoke about it before, they’re in the market for a left-sided player, obviously Bolingoli moving on to Turkey now, you’ve got Greg Taylor who’s there and he’s kind of the only one – even though James Forrest played on that side.
“They’re looking for a left sided player and he kind of ticks all the boxes – he’s got good pace, it’s a good price, I think, it’s under a million, room for improvement and still very, very young.
“They look desperate to get hold of him so we’ll see in the coming weeks but it looks like a transfer that I think will happen.”
Addicks boss Lee Bowyer confirmed to the South London Press earlier this month that the London outfit had turned down an offer for Doughty from the Hoops.
Lennon wants a left footer who can slot in at left-back or in the left wing-back position that is key to his team’s new set-up.
