Celtic tipped for big-money Edouard windfall after manager confession – McLeish
Alex McLeish has tipped Celtic to sell Odsonne Edouard for a “considerable amount of money” before next week’s transfer deadline.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Hoops could not afford to let the 23-year-old walk away on a free next summer.
As quoted by Glasgow Live (25th August), Ange Postecoglou admitted outgoings would affect potential new signings before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

He revealed “nothing concrete” had happened in terms of player sales yet.
The Australian boss also insisted Edouard had been “outstanding” despite the speculation over his future.
The Frenchman is out of contract next summer, meaning Celtic risk losing him on a free.
As such, McLeish insisted the “smart money” is on the Bhoys cashing in.
“I would think the smart money would be on Edouard moving,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I know he’s linked with one or two clubs. These clubs are really starting to thrive.
“I would be very surprised if Celtic did miss out on that considerable amount of money. The smart money is definitely on a big-money transfer.
“In this current climate, with the pandemic over the last couple of years, clubs have lost more money than ever. They can ill afford to let the resources drain even further.
“Especially when you’ve got a rival who’s making strides to pull away from you now.
“Therefore, I would say that they have to be smart on this. It has to be smart business.

“I just can’t see that Edouard’s going to stay until the end of his contract and walk away.”
Ryan Christie and Leigh Griffiths are also set to be out of contract in 2022.
