Celtic tipped to agree two ‘brilliant’ signings next week after Sky report – expert

Frank McAvennie claims the permanent captures of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vicker could be confirmed by Celtic next week.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists both deals will be easy to do.

On Tuesday (4 January) Sky Sports reported Celtic have opened talks with Benfica and Tottenham in their bid to sign Jota, 22, and Carter-Vickers, 24.

Both players have been key to Celtic’s resurgence under Ange Postecoglou with the duo making a combined 42 appearances so far this season.

McAvennie claims both players will want to join permanently and predicts swift movement in wrapping up both deals.

“Get them in, get them signed, it’s a no brainer,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Both lads have been brilliant so far. I really think Carter-Vickers can be outstanding if he is partnered with a better centre-half.

“Not to take anything away from Starfelt, I just think Carter-Vickers can go to another level with a bit of help.

“Jota, well, he speaks for himself, doesn’t he? The guy has been brilliant since he came in and I can’t speak highly enough of him.

“I’m sure both players want to join the club, why wouldn’t they?

“It should be an easy deal to do so let’s hope it is done quickly.

“If there are talks, maybe there could be some confirmation next week.”
