Celtic tipped to pull Giorgios Giakoumakis U-turn after latest – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has claimed that Celtic will pull a U-turn and restore Giorgios Giakoumakis to the starting XI to face Ross County on Wednesday (31 August).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested Ange Postecoglou has a strong enough squad to be able to rotate for midweek games.
Giakoumakis is yet to start a competitive fixture for the Bhoys this season.
He has been subbed on for all four of the games he has been on the bench.
The 27-year-old was not in the squad for the Celts’ 9-0 win over Dundee United on Sunday (28 August).
The Glasgow club face Ross County on Wednesday in second round of the Scottish League Cup.
Celtic face their Glasgow rivals Rangers in the next Premiership fixture on Saturday (3 September).
When asked if Postecoglou will use the opportunity of a midweek game to rotate the squad ahead of the derby at the weekend, McAvennie told Football Insider: “He’ll change of course.

“He’ll keep a very strong team. In the past when we’ve changed teams at Celtic, the past couple of years it’s not been that strong. Whereas there’s players coming in to the middle now who are like for like.
“Giakoumakis will come in up front, that’s not weakening the team, it’s strengthening it if anything. He’s [Postecoglou] definitely got the players now to rotate. [Anthony] Ralston could get a game over [Josip] Juranovic and [Alexandro] Beranbei could start at left-back.“
