Celtic tipped to pull off 'no brainer' signing after movement on Wyke deal - Scots pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed there is almost no risk in Celtic signing Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke on a free transfer this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender suggested the 28-year-old could be a “rough diamond” for the Bhoys.
As revealed by Football Insider yesterday (June 16th), Celtic are set to offer Wyke a long-term contract and a club source has subsequently added today there are indications the player is keen to accept.
The hitman is out of contract at Sunderland this summer and talks to tie him down have failed to result in an agreement.
Wyke netted 25 goals in 43 league appearances last season.
Hutton insisted those figures should make signing him a “no brainer” for the Bhoys.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Any free transfer, when you’ve got numbers like that, it’s kind of a no brainer. It’s an easy one for the club.
“Look, Sunderland are a big club, they play a decent standard of football. You would like to think he could come up to Scotland, score goals and make things happen.
“I think the risk value is very low there. They can probably get him on a decent contract with decent wages and stuff. This is something they’ll look to do, the kind of rough diamond if you want.
“I think that’s a good option. I think the risk value is very low.”
Wyke scored a total of 30 goals in 53 games for Sunderland during the 2020/21 campaign.
He has spent most of his career in League One, with 58 goals in 175 third-tier appearances under his belt.
