Celtic tipped to sign ‘best player in Japan’ after Sky update – Kenny
Celtic are the only club in Scotland capable of benefitting from the “untapped goldmine” of Japanese football.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid links with another Japanese star.
On 6 December, Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reported Reo Hatate is set to meet with Kawasaki Frontale chiefs this week to express his desire to join Celtic.

The left-back is out of contract at the end of January.
Hatate is the latest name from the J-League to be linked with Celtic following Kyogo Furuhashi’s success in Glasgow.
Kenny believes Celtic now have a “huge advantage” in the transfer market because of Postecoglou’s previous work in the J-League.
“I said this when Postecoglou came in,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He must be the only man in Scotland with a decent knowledge of that league.
“He’s proved it with the signing of Furuhashi who has been nothing short of brilliant since he joined.
“There will be other players like him over there and Postecoglou will know who they are.
“Japan is an untapped goldmine for quality players who can thrive in Scotland.
“I just don’t think any other teams are looking over there, maybe they are now.
“Postecoglou will know who the best player in Japan is, so Celtic could go and sign him.

“It’s a move to a big, historic club who regularly play in Europe, they won’t say no.
“I expect Celtic will continue to sign players from Japan as long as Postecoglou is at the club.”
In other news, Celtic are plotting to replace a 2021 signing already after a Sky update.
