Celtic tipped to spend 'a lot of money' this month after '£12m' Jota update - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Celtic loanees Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota have proven they are worth a combined £12million this season.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the duo are “worth splashing the money on” after their performances this season.
As reported by the Daily Record on Monday (10 January), talks between Celtic and Benfica over a permanent deal for Jota have progressed well in recent days.
The report claims the deal could be close and will cost the Bhoys around £6million.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider today the club are also in discussions to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham on a permanent deal.
Whelan insisted it would be money well spent for the Hoops.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Two players there that have done very, very well since they’ve come into Celtic.
“They’ve taken their opportunity. They’re standout players out there. Celtic have needed that little bit of continuity at the back and think they’ve got that with Carter-Vickers.
“Jota, well we’ve seen him come in and hit the ground running and scoring goals. Yet, the injury’s set him back but he seems to be one of those who can create, score, do everything.
“He’s really risen to the challenge there and £6million for a player like that? Yeah, it is a lot of money.
“But, in the long run, is it worth it? In my opinion, yes.
“This is what they wanted. They wanted to close that gap and they’ve managed to do that. You’ve got to have certain players in certain areas that are going to give you the opportunity to bring titles back.
“They’re two players in two key areas that are worth £12m and splashing out for.”
Jota has scored eight goals and contributed six assists in 18 Celtic appearances.
Meanwhile, Carter-Vickers has played 23 times for the Hoops.
