Celtic told to accept ‘£15m offer’ for Josip Juranovic after source’s reveal – Agbonlahor

Celtic should now demand a £15million fee for Josip Juranovic after his “very impressive” performances for Croatia at the World Cup, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker hailed Juranovic’s “energy and aggression” as he played a major role in Croatia finishing the tournament in third place.

Sources told Football Insider last month (30 November) that Celtic were confident of securing a big-money fee for the 27-year-old and were open to selling him in January.

The right-back only moved to Parkhead in the summer of 2021 and is under contract until the summer of 2026 but talks over a new deal have collapsed.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday (19 December) that Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and two Premier League sides are now interested in Juranovic.

Celtic have already brought in a replacement with Canada international Alistair Johnston signing from CF Montreal for a £3million-plus fee earlier this month (3 December).

“Juranovic looks very good,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Maybe he’s not outstanding with his delivery but his energy and aggression with his defending was very good.

“If I’m Celtic I’m saying that £5million has gone up to £15million. If he’s not going to sign a new contract, it’s going to cost someone £15million.

“Letting him go for £5million would be far too cheap because he was very impressive.”

Juranovic has played 50 times for Celtic, including 22 appearances this season.

He was not involved in their 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday (17 December) and he missed Croatia’s 2-1 win over Morocco in the World Cup third-place play-off with injury.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has saluted a Celtic man after a “dramatic decision to bring him back”.
