Celtic told to accept Yosuke Ideguchi offer after latest – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has told Celtic to “get rid” of Yosuke Ideguchi.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said there is no point keeping Ideguchi because he has spent too long on the sidelines.
The 26-year-old has made just one competitive appearance for the Celts since his arrival last January.
He picked up a knee injury on his debut that kept him sidelined for much of the second half of the 2021-22 season.
Ideguchi was expected to be fit for the start of the 2022-23 season before suffering an injury in training and is yet to feature.
The midfielder did feature in the starting lineup for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they faced Sydney FC in Australia as part of their mid-season break.
However he was not in the squad for the Celts’ 1-0 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday (17 December).
According to the Sun (8 December), several J-League clubs are monitoring the midfielder’s situation and he could quit as early as next month.
McAvennie suggested the Hoops may be forced to let go of Ideguchi.
“I think they are going to have to sell him,” he told Football Insider.

“They have to get rid of him and get him off the wage bill because he is not going to be fit. That is a year now. He is not going to be fit in time to play any games so what is the point.
“I would suggest they need to get him out the door unless he is going to be fit. If he is going to be fit we need to see what kind of player he is.”
