Celtic told to complete ‘sensational’ Kieran Tierney deal as new details emerge – expert

A loan deal for Kieran Tierney to join Celtic for next season could be on the cards.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said it would be “magnificent” to land Tierney on a temporary deal for the upcoming campaign.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour at Arsenal after the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer and could be on the move this summer.

The Scotland international still has three years left on his deal at the Emirates after joining from the Hoops in 2019.

Football Insider revealed (8 July), that the left-back is a top target for Newcastle United this summer and they have been interested in the defender for much of the window.

But following Brendan Rodgers’ return to the helm at Parkhead, rumours have swirled about a potential reunion between the two.

As quoted by the Daily Record (16 July), Rodgers refused to rule out Tierney returning to Celtic and suggested anything can happen in football.

McAvennie suggested a loan might be the best option if Rodgers wants to re-sign Tierney .

“He [Rodgers] keeps talking about Kieran coming back,” he told Football Insider.

It would be lovely and sensational if he does, it would be like the prodigal son returning but I think he might be out our price range.

Getting him for a year on loan would be magnificent.

Brendan seems a lot more chilled out this time than what I have seen of him before but I suppose that is to be expected because they have not played any serious games yet.
