Celtic told to complete ‘vitally important’ senior hire after Nicholson reveal – pundit
Danny Mills has claimed Celtic need to appoint a director of football but are right to wait until the right candidate comes along.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender insisted it is vitally Celtic find the right person for the job as it is a “long-term appointment”.
As quoted by the Daily Record, interim CEO Michael Nicholson dismissed the need for a director of football to this week’s AGM.

He instead insisted the board were committed to getting the right people around Ange Postecoglou to help the team on the pitch.
Celtic are in the middle of a rebuild after Postecoglou took charge over the summer in the wake of their disastrous 2020-21 campaign.
“In this day and age, it’s vitally important to have a director of football,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Yes, they need to appoint someone but they are right, they need to find the right person, there’s no point appointing someone for the sake of it.
“They have to make sure it is the right person and if that person isn’t there then wait. There’s no big rush because they’re doing OK at the moment.
“A technical director or sporting director is a long-term appointment. That’s the way it has to be viewed.”

Postecoglou saw key players Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie sold in his first window as manager.
The Greece-born Australian brought in seven players including Jota, Joe Hart and Kyogo Furuashi who have all been instant successes.
