Celtic told to green light David Turnbull move after latest development – expert
Frank McAvennie has told David Turnbull to leave Celtic on loan for the rest of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Turnbull doesn’t fit Ange Postecoglou’s style of play and will struggle to be a regular starter.
The 23-year-old recently returned from an ankle injury and has been fit enough to make the bench for the Celts’ recent Premiership and Champions League fixtures.
Speaking to the Glasgow Times (15 October), the Scotland international said he will try and force his way into the team after a “tough” spell.
Turnbull started on the bench for the Celts’ 3-0 win over Livingston on Sunday (30 October).
He was subbed on for the final 25 minutes and provided the assist for Jota to score the third goal of the game.
McAvennie insisted Turnbull is going to find game time hard to come by under Postecoglou.
“I do not think he is going to get in the team,” he told Football Insider.
“He will get his bit part. I like him, I think he is a wonderful talent, he just does not have the pace that other people have got. He stops things and slows things down and I don’t think that is Ange’s way.

“He has got to get more game time and as a player that is really up to him. I am assuming Ange will tell him he is not going to get game time. That is a discussion only they can have.
“It is down to Turnbull and what his ambitions are and what he wants to do. He has got to play to get in the Scotland team. I think he should go on loan for six months if he wants to play.“
In other news, a pundit has suggested when Ange Postecoglou could agree ‘huge’ deal as Celtic exit quotes emerge.
