Celtic told to sack Wilfried Nancy already: ‘Get rid’, ‘Disaster of an appointment’
Celtic fans are already keen to see Wilfried Nancy lose his job after their team were demolished 3-0 by Roma on Thursday night.
The Bhoys succumbed to a heavy defeat on home turf in the Europa League, leaving them with plenty of work to do in their remaining two league phase games if they want their European campaign to continue.
Wilfried Nancy has endured a difficult start at Celtic after his recent appointment, as he has now overseen back-to-back defeats after his men were beaten by Hearts in his opening game in charge.
The Frenchman has stepped into a volatile situation at Parkhead away from the pitch, and it hasn’t taken long for the fans to turn their frustration in his direction ahead of Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final.

Celtic fans think Wilfried Nancy has to beat St Mirren to save his job
Ex-Celtic hero Chris Sutton defended Nancy after the defeat to table-topping Hearts last weekend, but that has done little to prevent the anger building towards him.
The team were totally outclassed by Roma in their midweek meeting, and that has already placed the boss under significant pressure as far as some sections of the fanbase are concerned.
Nancy’s opening assignments were always likely to be daunting, with two tricky tests followed by a cup final against St Mirren, and supporters are already hoping that Sunday’s game at Hampden Park will be his last at the helm.
The Celtic faithful took to X to share their frustrations after the Roma reverse, and there was no shortage of people calling for the manager to lose his job.
One supporter suggested that Nancy “has to go” if Celtic lose on Sunday, while another replied and added that he “should have been sacked at full-time” of the Roma defeat.
Another fan noted that Nancy looks “way out of his depth,” while somebody else suggested that they have “never been so angry about a managerial appointment” in their life.
- @Tony35677630231: “I never thought I’d wish for Celtic to lose, especially in a final, but if it means we get rid of Nancy, then I’m all for it.”
- @karldbradley: “Nancy is a disaster of an appointment, way out of his depth and won’t be here long.”
- @_mjoneill67: “I’m really struggling to get behind Nancy here. This is absolutely terrible. This cannot continue, it clearly isn’t working.”
Wilfried Nancy must take imminent fixture opportunity
Nancy has made significant changes at Celtic since his arrival, most notably the drastic alteration in formation from the one operated by Martin O’Neill.
With that in mind, it was always going to take time for his ideas to settle in, especially with such a difficult opening week.
However, the 48-year-old is now presented with an opportunity that he simply has to take if he wants to save his job.
| Date | Competition | Opponent | H/A |
| 14 December | Premier Sports Cup (Final) | St Mirren | – |
| 17 December | Premiership | Dundee United (8th) | A |
| 21 December | Premiership | Aberdeen (6th) | H |
| 27 December | Premiership | Livingston (12th) | A |
| 30 December | Premiership | Motherwell (3rd) | A |
Sunday’s clash with St Mirren provides the unpredictability of a cup final, but Celtic must surely dispatch a side who are currently sitting ninth in the Premiership.
The Bhoys then have trips to face lowly Dundee United and Livingston within their next five games, and they are both simply must-win matches.
The scrutiny on Nancy will only begin to die down a little if he starts to win games, and he may never get a better chance than this to start getting points under his belt.
