Celtic told to sign Wyke after Sunderland offer submitted – Mills
Danny Mills has backed Charlie Wyke to score goals for Celtic if he makes the switch from Sunderland in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender claimed a natural goalscorer like Wyke will not struggle in a Celtic side that creates plenty of chances.
As revealed by Football Insider, Ipswich Town are submitting a lucrative offer for the striker who is out of contract at Sunderland.
The Black Cats confirmed on their website that they are still in talks with Wyke who scored 30 goals across all competitions this season.
Mark Wilson told the Celtic Huddle podcast that the 28-year-old is on a list of potential transfer targets for the club.
Asked whether he would be a good addition for the Hoops, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Goalscorers will always score goals, no matter what. That’s not a problem.
“Scotland is a step up but it’s not like a step to the Premier League. Give him chances, goalscorers will always score.
“It’s about how many chances do you have to create for yourself but at Celtic that wouldn’t really be the case I suspect.
“They will create enough chances for him to score loads of goals.”
Celtic look set to lose top goalscorer Odsonne Edouard who has just one year left on his current contract.
Football Insider understands Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City have re-emerged as the favourite to sign the Frenchman.
In other news, Celtic have made a move to sign a Premier League 24-year-old after a brilliant season and a part-exchange deal is possible.
