Celtic told to U-turn on Edouard Michut after £5m report – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has claimed Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Edouard Michut is not the kind of player Celtic should sign.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Hoops striker suggested the Scottish champions have enough options in their midfield without making a move for the 19-year-old.
The Independent reported (16 July) that PSG have set the price of Celtic target Michut at around £5million with a 25% sell-on clause.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were said to be willing to pay around £2million for the midfielder.
The French youth international has three years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 club.
When asked if Celtic would sell anyone to facilitate the signing of Michut, McAvennie told Football Insider:” Who’s going to leave?
“[Matt] O’Riley isn’t leaving, [David} Turnbull won’t go, Jota’s just signed, Callum McGregor’s not going anywhere. [James] Forrest just signed a new contract. So I don’t know who’s going to leave.
“I wouldn’t think that would be what we need. I know this manager loves going forward but sometimes you just need to give the other side a bit more credit and do a bit of defensive work.

“I think that’s what we need in midfield, not more flair players because we’ve got those in abundance. Celtic have loads of players going forward, bringing in another one isn’t a good idea, I don’t think we need him.
“I think we’ve got more than enough going forward from midfield.“
In other news, a pundit has suggested Celtic will only wait a few more weeks for their ‘top choice’ Vinicius Souza after an update from a journalist.
