Celtic told to U-turn on Oscar Gloukh after journalist’s £8m update – McAvennie

Frank McAvennie has told Celtic to U-turn on their interest in Israel international Oscar Gloukh.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said teams don’t want players from the same country forming “cliques”.

According to journalist Scott McDermott, reported in the Daily Record (17 September), Ange Postecoglou has a list of January transfer targets in case players are taken away for the World Cup.

One of his targets is 18-year-old Gloukh from Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

The midfielder was linked with a move to Glasgow rivals Rangers in the summer.

The teenager is said to be valued at £8million by the Israeli side.

Gloukh could join fellow Israel international Liel Abada if he makes the move to Parkhead.

Abada was close with Israeli teammate Nir Bitton before he left the Glasgow club in the summer.

Speaking to CelticTV (4 August), the winger said that he really misses Bitton who was like a “big brother” to him.

When asked if Abada would benefit from having another Israeli teammate, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think the manager’s got that covered because he’s got a team full of internationals from all over the world.

Abada’s only 20, it’s still hard but you don’t want that in the dressing room. You want them all mixing. You don’t want to get cliques.

Celtic

I think they’ve got a good harmony in the dressing room.

I think they understand that they’re playing football. It’s a lonely place but there’s people at Celtic that have got that covered. Especially the manager. He treats them all like his sons and I can see that kind of harmony in the dressing room.
