‘Celtic set for key transfer decision amid Nicolas Kuhn exit news’
Celtic will decide how to navigate the transfer window following the news that Nicolas Kuhn is set to depart the Scottish Premiership giants.
Brendan Rodgers’ men are vying to retain their Scottish Premiership title amid growing pressure in the transfer market from fierce rivals Rangers, following the 49ers Enterprises takeover at Ibrox.
Amid their efforts to remain the dominant force in Scotland, Celtic could step up their Dominic Calvert-Lewin pursuit.
Rodgers’ side have already welcomed several additions this summer, such as securing the return of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal, and the capture of former Aberdeen goalkeeper Ross Doohan.

Celtic set to decide on recruitment model amid Kuhn exit news
Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Celtic star Kuhn is set for a medical at Italian side Como, who finished 10th in Serie A last season.
Rodgers’ transfer plans this summer are set to be somewhat dictated by the talented 25-year-old’s imminent departure.
Speaking on the Daily Record Sport’s Hotline Live [7 July], journalist Keith Jackson said: “I think what I’ve said about Celtic’s transfer window so far is they’ve got some business done nice and early, which is unlike Celtic.
“I think these were fundamental issues around the squad, and the balance of the squad. I fully expect Celtic to spend big between now and the end of the transfer window.
“I think these were the ones that were all lined up, ready to go, and just press the button on when the window opened up. They’ve done that.
“Where I think it’ll become more interesting for Celtic supporters is over the rest of the course of this window.
“That’s when we’ll see if they’re reverting to their old player trading model of buying in four, five, six players of a similar price, or if they’ve got a couple of real priority targets in mind that will come at a premium price.
“That’s the Brendan Rodgers model.”
Kuhn leaves a big void for Rodgers to fill
Football Insider verdict
Celtic have partly facilitated their Kuhn replacement plan by signing fellow right winger Benjamin Nygren from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland.
Nicolas Kuhn stats | All competitions 2024/25 |
Appearances | 51 |
Goals | 21 |
Assists | 15 |
However, the outgoing German is a fantastic talent who proved his worth by notching 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions last season.
Kuhn played a key role as Rodgers’ men reached the Champions League knockout stages last term and impressively scored a brace during his side’s unlikely 3-1 win over Bundesliga powerhouse Leipzig last November.
Defending both their Scottish Premiership and League Cup crowns, as well as vying to go one better in the Scottish Cup next season, has been made more difficult by the 25-year-old’s expected exit.
Kuhn proved his ability to perform against elite opponents when he scored against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on 18 February, and his exploits will not prove easy for Nygren to emulate.
The former Nordsjaelland man showed his clinical instincts by scoring 16 goals in 32 appearances for the Danish club last season, but Kuhn’s exit may dent Celtic’s title credentials.
