Celtic trio who joined last year could now all be leaving – sources

Celtic trio, Yang Hyun-Jun, Hyeon-gyu Oh, and Yuki Kobayashi could all depart the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider journalist and Scottish expert Daniel Bowers, speaking to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, believes all three men “struggled to make an impact” this season.

Their performances could be reflected in the Hoops summer transfer activity, as all three men might be heading for new challenges for next season.

Yang might be loaned out rather than being moved on permanently, but Kobayashi is expected to “certainly leave” during in this window.

Oh’s concerned, his potential transfer out of Celtic Park is dependent on whether or not the club signs Adam Idah.

Oh didn’t get many minutes in the second half of the season, with the on-loan Norwich City forward being favoured by Brendan Rodgers, and if he’s signed permanently this summer, then the South Korean might be surplus to requirements.

Celtic’s new signings haven’t made an impact

While the trio of players all joined Celtic in 2023, their lack of game time has raised questions over their long-term future at the club.

Yang scored just one goal in 31 appearances last season in all competitions, with Oh finding the back of the net five times in 26 games.

Meanwhile, Kobayashi didn’t play a single game throughout the previous campaign, having only featured seven times since joining the Hoops.

Celtic haven’t been busy this summer, which is a situation that is concerning fans due to pre-season being around the corner.

However, Idah is said to be “very keen” on a return to Celtic Park this summer, but that situation depends on Norwich City and whether the club wants to keep him this season.
