Anthony Ralston of Celtic makes a run

By James Black

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has named his team for tonight’s Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain and surprised many be picking Anthony Ralston at right-back – with Celtic fans tipping the youngster to make himself a star.

The young defender will start at right-back with Mikael Lustig moving into central defence.

The Hoops take on big-spending PSG at Celtic Park hoping to take something from Unai Emery’s side but will have to keep £360million duo Kylian Mbappe Neymar quiet.

The French champions have world-class talent throughout their team but Hoops fans are hopeful their side can take something from the game.

Rodgers has sprung something of a surprise by starting Ralston – Nir Bitton was widely expected to start but the Hoops fans are optimistic regardless.

Rodgers’ side eased by Hamilton 4-1 in their last league game with the Hoops in an unfamiliar 3-4-3 formation but the former Liverpool boss has returned to the more recognisable 4-2-3-1 that helped his side to an unbeaten domestic treble last season.

Ralston last started in the 1-1 draw with St. Johnstone and joins Leigh Griffiths and Olivier Ntcham as the changes in Rodgers’ side as James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Odsonne Edouard drop out.

Costa Rican Christian Gamboa was another possible choice for the Hoops however Rodgers has decided to put his faith in youth.

As the fourth seed in the group, Celtic are facing a fight to finish third and parachute into the Europa League.

The other fixture in Celtic’s group sees Anderlecht take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
