England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed why Scott Sinclair hasn’t earned an international call-up – and Celtic fans are furious.
Southgate claimed the Celtic winger wasn’t at the same level as some of the other players at his disposal despite his outstanding for for the Hoops.
“He’s a good player but we have good quality in that area of the pitch and at the moment I think he is just below the level of what we have already got,” Southgate said as quoted by ESPN.
Sinclair has scored 35 times in 68 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side since moving from Aston Villa for £3million last summer but hasn’t got close to an England squad.
The 28-year-old has represented England at every youth level but is yet to earn a senior call-up but was part of the Great Britain team at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
With talent like Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and others available to him, Southgate may have a point although Celtic fans don’t see it that way.
Here are some of their comments.
If Southgate said 'Rashford is the future and Sinclair won't get in front of him' it'd be fair enough, but not good enough for the squad? 🤷

Sinclair has scored ten goals already this season for Celtic after lifting the PFA Scotland Player’s Player of the Year and Scottish Football Writer’s Player of the Year after a fantastic debut season on Scotland.
As part of Brendan Rodgers’ squad he fired 25 goals to help Celtic to an undefeated domestic treble – winning the Scottish Premership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup.
The former Manchester City player has been key this season for the Hoops as they’ve been without Moussa Dembele over the last few months.
Sinclair was nominated for Goal of the Week after Matchday Two in the Champions League after his late goal in the 3-0 win away to Anderlecht last week.
