Celtic are just one of many clubs who have been linked with highly-rated Tottenham youngster Reo Griffiths – and the transfer battle among Europe’s elite looks fierce.
The Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (7:29 pm) claims that Juventus, Barcelona and Roma, along with the Hoops are all interested in signing the 17-year-old.
The youngster has scored 34 goals for Spurs’ under-18 side this season, and is seen as one of the hottest prospects in England.
As some of the biggest clubs in Europe are now interested in signing the striker, it is highly unlikely that the Hoops will be able to land him.
Although the one thing that could be in the Hoops’ advantage is that he would be far more likely to get first-team opportunities, even at a very early age, with the Bhoys.
Even if a move for Griffiths doesn’t materialise, he is the perfect type of player that Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic board should be targeting more often.
A player that you buy for a small sum of money, develop then sell on for an absolute fortune.
That used to be the Hoops’ policy, but they seem to have veered away from it in recent times, although should Moussa Dembele be sold in the summer then he would be an excellent example of the policy in action.
If Griffiths is the standard of player that the Hoops are looking to buy in the summer, then the signs look good for the years ahead for the Bhoys.
