Celtic player ratings v PSG: 25-year-old cannot cope, attacker head and shoulders above rest

By James Black

Celtic kicked off their Champions League campaign tonight with a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

The French champions controlled the game throughout and £200million summer signing Neymar opened the scoring after 19 minutes, rounding off a fantastic counter-attacking move down the right.

Celtic’s players protested Scott Sinclair was fouled in the build-up to the opening goal but referee Daniele Orsato waved play on, leaving PSG to break forward at speed.

Kylian Mbappe doubled the visitor’s lead on 34 minutes when Edinson Cavani failed to make contact with the ball before it fell to the on-loan Mbappe to lash it beyond Gordon.

With five minutes left in the first half, Jozo Simunovic gave away a silly penalty, pulling down Edinson Cavani, allowing Cavani to smash his penalty high into Gordon’s net.
