Celtic victims of major injustice as new Fashion Sakala footage emerges – expert
Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers “got away with one” after Fashion Sakala was awarded a penalty for a challenge by Celtic defender Carl Starfelt.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker couldn’t believe VAR official Willie Collum didn’t see Sakala celebrating after going to ground.
As shown on the Gers’ YouTube channel (4 January), the Zambia international can be seen turning away from referee John Beaton and celebrating towards the fans after the official pointed to the penalty spot.
The Light Blues were awarded the spot kick for Starfelt’s sliding challenge on the forward.
James Tavernier rifled the ball into the back of the net to give his side a 2-1 lead in the second half.
Thanks to Kyogo’s late equaliser the Hoops managed to rescue a point from the derby on Monday (2 January) and remain nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
McAvennie wasn’t happy with Sakala’s reaction after the challenge.
“The penalty for Rangers, I would have given the spot kick just for Starfelt sliding in anyway but he did not touch him,” he told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen.

“You can actually see in slow motion. You can see Sakala lying on the ground pumping his fist because he knew he got away with one.
“Surely Willie Collum sees that as well. He is in the room watching it, the same as everyone in the country.“
