Celtic will accept ‘huge’ Carter-Vickers bid – sources

Celtic are prepared to accept an offer for Cameron Carter-Vickers if their meet their asking price is met, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Glasgow outfit are set to demand a “huge” fee of £20-25million for any interested clubs to prise him away from Parkhead.

The 27-year-old’s current contract with Celtic is set to run until 2029 as things stand, placing the club in a strong negotiating position regarding his long-term future.

Carter-Vickers has been a crucial player under Brendan Rodgers, and is still viewed as a valuable member of the starting XI who they are reluctant to see leave.

However, there is a feeling at the club that a significant offer could tempt them to cash in and reinvest the money in strengthening Rodgers’ side.

Celtic are expected to stick to their transfer strategy of brining in players and helping them develop before selling them on for a large profit, and they will not rule out any potential departures.

Celtic stance on Cameron Carter-Vickers’ sale revealed

Carter-Vickers is regarded as one of the most important players at Parkhead, and his presence in their heart of their defensive line is usually missed in his absence.

The centre-back has made 135 appearances for the club since joining from Tottenham initially on loan in 2021 before his move became permanent the following year.

Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness previously told Football Insider that Celtic have no need to sell their star man in January as they have plenty of money in the bank.

As a result of their strong financial position and Carter-Vickers’ importance to the team, any exit deal would be more likely to take place in the summer rather than this month.

It has also been said that the club could negotiate a better deal than their current £25million asking price in the summer, if interest in his signature continues to grow.
