Celtic will hike up Edouard fee with moneyspinning add-ons after Sky update - Scots pundit
Alex McLeish has suggested Celtic could look to include several money-spinning add-ons in a deal to sell Odsonne Edouard to Leicester City.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the Hoops may have to accept a below-value transfer fee due to the striker’s contract situation.
Sky Sports have reported (June 8th) Leicester and Celtic have held talks over a deal which could be worth around £18million for Edouard.
The hitman is into the final year of his contract at Parkhead, meaning Celtic risk losing him for nothing if they do not cash in.
McLeish admitted Edouard would be worth more if the Hoops had not allowed him to run down his terms.
However, he suggested the Bhoys would be working on including various add-ons to ensure they get a hefty windfall in the future.

“I believe that if he didn’t have a year left, and possibly coming from abroad, then he’d be worth more than that,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“They may be taking advantage of the Scottish League. The revenue of our league is not as high as, obviously, a lot of other competitions throughout Europe. Indeed, the richest country in the world is England.
“Maybe they’ll be able to do a deal where Celtic can squeeze something else out if Edouard scores a certain amount of goals, for instance. If he plays in Europe or he gets more international caps, there can be add-ons.
“I’m sure the people behind the scenes will be working on that.”
Edouard netted 22 times in 40 appearances for Celtic during the recently-concluded campaign.
He has a total of 83 goals in 168 games under his belt for the Bhoys.
