Celtic ‘would love’ to sign Liverpool star Caoimhin Kelleher after confirmed news – sources
Celtic “would love” to land second-choice Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Hoops will be in the market for a new shot-stopper in the off-season after Joe Hart announced his imminent retirement in a new twist at Parkhead.
Hart, 36, confirmed he will hang up his gloves at the end of May despite his status as an ever-present in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Football Insider revealed last month (22 January) that Celtic are eyeing a move for 25-year-old Liverpool ace Kelleher.
However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Hoops could find a move for the shot-stopper too difficult to do.
Celtic could make ‘big-money’ Kelleher move after Joe Hart retirement
It is believed the Glasgow giants will need to stump up a big-money fee after a recent rise in Kelleher’s stock at Liverpool.
He is getting a run in the Reds side amid injury to Alisson Becker and will have a tough decision to make in the summer window about whether he wants to be a number one in his own right.
Celtic could find it tough to convince Kelleher to join with other Premier League clubs also interested.
Nottingham Forest were keen on the Republic of Ireland international in January but saw their interest rebuffed by Liverpool.

Kelleher, 25, has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2023-24 campaign.
He has conceded 18 goals and kept three clean sheets – including one in Sunday’s (25 February) League Cup final win over Chelsea at Wembley.
