Celtic’s Adam Idah reacts to Kasper Schmeichel’s message amid striker search

Celtic are preparing to bolster their attacking options this transfer window to compete with Adam Idah with the striker’s position at the club in doubt.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider, Celtic are working on bringing two strikers to the club this summer.

Celtic have interest in Napoli’s Giuseppe Ambrosino, but a loan move would be the most likely avenue to bring the 21-year-old to Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers has yet to replace Kyogo, who left the Hoops in January to join Stade Rennais and has now moved to Championship club Birmingham City.

Schmeichel sends out ‘valuable’ message

Idah’s position in Rodgers’ plans is under threat with the potential addition of two new strikers.

The Irishman was bought for £9.5million, but hasn’t nailed down a place in the starting line-up under Rodgers, with competition from Kyogo and Daizen Maeda.

The 24-year-old has now reacted to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s message following the Hoops’ pre-season win over Sporting Lisbon.

Celtic have been in Portugal ahead of the new Premiership season getting underway against St Mirren on August 3rd.

Schmeichel took to his Instagram page to share pictures from the Sporting friendly and send a message out to supporters, which was liked by Idah.

Unconvincing Idah faces uncertain future

Football Insider Verdict

With the start of the new season rapidly approaching, Idah is still Celtic’s only natural striker and with doubts of Maeda’s future at the club, Rodgers needs to act quickly.

Maeda’s scintillating form at Celtic has attracted interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham one of the club’s lining up a potential move.

The Japanese international was signed as a winger under Ange Postecoglou in 2023, but has been filling in at striker to great effect since the departure of Kyogo.

Despite less competition for places, Idah has still yet to convince Rodgers and the fanbase that he is the striker to lead the club going forwards.

Idah made an instant impact when he arrived, initially on loan, to fire the Hoops to the Premiership title ahead of Rangers, but his form since making the move permanent has not hit the same heights.

Idah’s record across all competitions at Celtic.

Celtic made progress in the Champions League last season, and Rodgers wants to keep strengthening his squad to compete with Europe’s top club’s.

However, despite their excellent financial position, and making a profit on the sale of Nicolas Kuhn, Celtic have been reluctant to spend big so far.
