Celtic’s bid to sign Mateusz Bogusz collapses – sources

Celtic target Mateusz Bogusz is set to stay at LAFC beyond the close of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have shown interest in Bogusz and even made an official offer.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (27 August) that the 23-year-old is keen to join the Scottish giants after making a big impact in Major League Soccer.

However, a deal could not be agreed and former Leeds attacker Bogusz is set to stay at LAFC.

Celtic had been aiming to bring in two midfielders before Friday’s (30 August) transfer deadline following the club-record departure of Matt O’Riley.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (26 August) that Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels is also a top target for the Glasgow giants.

Celtic unable to strike Bogusz deal despite tabling bid

Former Poland Under-21 international Bogusz has notched 17 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances for US side LAFC this year.

He only left England for the United States last year (2023) but already attracted attention in the Scottish Premiership.

The midfielder’s contract in Los Angeles runs until December 2026.
