Centre-forward wanted by West Ham on verge of PL switch – report
West Ham target Jayden Braaf is on the verge of signing for Premier League title-holders Chelsea, according to a report.
The Sun claims that Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also keen on Braaf, 15, but his agent has confirmed that he is close to leaving Dutch giants PSV to switch to Stamford Bridge.
Stefano van Delden, the centre-forward’s uncle and agent, was quoted as saying: “We have reached an agreement in principle for Jayden to join Chelsea.
“But it is a verbal agreement.
“Nothing has yet been put in writing.”
Braaf is a product of Ajax’s famous academy and is capable of playing on the wings as well as up front.
It is understood that the Netherlands Under-15 international will move to Chelsea in the summer and sign a professional deal on August 31 when he turns 16.
Football Insider verdict
Braaf clearly seems like a talented player given the clubs that were rushing to sign him. West Ham definitely stick out like a sore thumb against the likes of Man United and Bayern Munich, so they were always likely to be out of their depth in the race to sign the Dutch teenager. It’s a good sign that the Hammers are on the look-out for top young talent like Braaf though and fans will be hoping that the club has their eye on a number of similar players. West Ham must make a big effort in the summer to improve the first team though so youth recruitment should take a backseat. David Moyes and the board have a lot of work to do to win back the fans after a poor season.
