Cesar Azpilicueta has message for Tottenham supporters

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta believes Tottenham were hoping that their Premier League title rivals would mentally fade during their midweek clash against Manchester City.
Antonio Conte’s side picked up a 2-1 win against Pep Guardiola’s men to maintain their seven-point lead on Spurs in the table after losing to Crystal Palace last Saturday.
Spain international Azpilicueta has told the White Hart Lane faithful that his side showed “character” during that encounter as they bounced back with three points.
Eden Hazard scored a brace during that game, while their title rivals beat relegation-threatened Swansea 3-1 despite being 1-0 down after 88 minutes.
After a number of highly eventful matches, Azpilicueta had this message for their title rivals, who will be looking to keep the pressure on their London neighbours at the weekend.

“I’m sure our rivals were waiting for us to drop that mental strength and drop points again,” said Azpilicueta, as quoted by the Daily Star. “So we showed our character – the fans, the team, the staff, we worked really hard when maybe it wasn’t our best game.
“But we were playing against a really tough team and we got the win that was massive for us after the defeat on Saturday.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will host Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon with Chelsea travelling to Bournemouth later on in the day.
By the time, the Blues kick off, Spurs could potentially move within four points of their rivals in the table.
It is highly likely that Pochettino’s men will pick up all three points because they have not been beaten on home soil this term.
Furthermore, during the reverse fixture in December, Spurs beat Watford 4-1 at Vicarage Road as a similar performance would prove to be too much for Walter Mazzari’s side.
