Cesar Azpilicueta slammed by pundit as 'stupid' Chelsea controversy analysed - 'it annoys me'
Paul Robinson has slammed Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta for his conduct against Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed the 32-year-old has been involved in too many “stupid, niggly” incidents this season.
Thomas Tuchel’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday.
Azpilicueta had an eventful afternoon at Goodison Park and sparked a ruckus between the two sides when he charged over following a scuffle between Mason Mount and Yerry Mina.
The Chelsea captain would later make an error which led to Richarlison’s winner.
When asked for his thoughts on Azpilicueta’s performance, Robinson told Football Insider: “I have seen him drawn into too many incidents this season.

“He has got too angry on the field. It annoys me at times.
“I’ve seen little stamps on players and little pulls. There’s been a few times where he has got involved in stupid, niggly situations he hasn’t needed to.
“He is trying to wind players up rather than concentrating on his own game. He is getting caught up in things and looks too angry and worried about the opposition.
“I want to see him concentrate on his own game because his form hasn’t been great. It’s costing him. It is looking questionable whether they will be able to keep him.”
Azpilicueta’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of this June.
He has made 42 appearances across all competitions this season.
