Champions League outfit now major favourite to sign Kobbie Mainoo as odds are slashed

Kobbie Mainoo’s future at Man United has been widely speculated throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

Under Ruben Amorim, the midfielder’s minutes were limited, and he has yet to start a Premier League game this season.

As a result, Mainoo’s future at Old Trafford was debated going into the January transfer window, with multiple teams interested in signing the England international.

While the sacking of Amorim could change things at the Red Devils for Mainoo, a departure is still possible, with Napoli now the favourites to sign the 20-year-old.

Napoli 1/1 to sign Kobbie Mainoo in the January transfer window

Napoli have been regularly linked to Mainoo throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

The current Serie A champions are on the hunt for consecutive titles as they look to also reach the latter stages of the Champions League.

Now, the addition of the Man United midfielder may help ensure these ambitions are realised, with the Italian side now the favourite to secure a deal.

According to one bookmaker, Napoli are 1/1 to sign Mainoo before the January transfer window closes.

Oddschecker on 9 January has confirmed that these odds have been slashed.

Who else is in the race to sign Mainoo?

Apart from Napoli, the bookies believe that numerous English sides could secure a deal for Mainoo before the window closes.

The current second-favourite to sign the Man United star is Chelsea at 8/1, with Tottenham then following at 10/1

After this, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Everton are also considered outsiders to secure the England international, with the bookies placing their odds at 14/1.

However, it remains to be seen if Man United would be prepared to let Mainoo go to a Premier League side with whom they are competing to secure European qualification.

Nevertheless, as it stands, the midfielder remains in contention to play in the Red Devils’ upcoming match against Brighton on Sunday in the FA Cup third round.
