Championship postponement updates as Met Office issue new Sunday weather warning
Numerous Championship games could be affected by some adverse weather conditions on Sunday after the Met Office’s yellow weather warning for potential snow and ice.
The Championship‘s busy winter schedule ends this weekend, with a full round of fixtures taking place on Sunday and Monday before FA Cup third round action commences the week after.
It is Coventry City who continue to lead the way at the top of the league, with Ipswich Town in second place, while Norwich City, Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday are all in the relegation zone.
The weather in the UK has been surprisingly ideal over the Christmas period, with very few EFL games postponed due to an unplayable pitch or other factors.
Blackburn Rovers are the only Championship team to have had games called off this season, and that looks set to continue to be the case despite some testing conditions being forecast for Sunday’s fixtures.

Met Office expects snow and ice in Wales, Staffordshire and Greater Manchester on Sunday
The Met Office‘s latest weather forecast for Sunday makes for worrying reading for supporters of Wrexham, Stoke City and Preston North End.
They have issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in certain parts of England and Wales that could disrupt their away fans’ respective journeys as they follow their clubs up and down the country.
Numerous areas are expected to be hit by adverse conditions, with snow showers expected to push further inland across Wales, parts of northwest England and the West Midlands during Sunday evening.
Not all locations in the warning areas are set to see snow, but there is the potential for an eight-centimetre build-up in a few locations, particularly across north Wales.
Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services, with pavements expected to be slippy due to ice.
How could Wrexham, Stoke and Preston fans be affected?
Wrexham face a trip to Derby County as they aim to continue their play-off push, and fans may face delays getting to the East Midlands, with the warning covering North Wales and parts of Staffordshire.
Stoke-on-Trent is one of the cities set to be affected by the snow and ice, so Potters fans may find it tougher to get to Norwich as they also seek a win and a place in the top six.
Preston are the team currently sat sixth in the second tier, and their supporters could also be disrupted on Sunday as they travel directly through the affected areas on their trip to an in-form Bristol City.
