Charlie Goode: Sheffield United tipped to sign loanee permanently after manager reveal – Kenny
Paddy Kenny has backed Sheffield United to sign Charlie Goode on a permanent basis after Paul Heckingbottom’s recent comments.
That’s according to former Blades stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former side’s late-window business.
Goode, 26, joined Sheffield United on loan from Brentford on deadline day.
He made the bench for Friday’s (4 February) game against Birmingham City but was not brought on.
As quoted by The Star (2 February), Heckingbottom admitted a permanent move for Good is “something I’ve spoken to Charlie about”.
“He’s got Premier League experience and he’s not the oldest,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If we can make that move permanent and he does well, it would be a very good signing.
“Let’s see how his loan spell goes first then we can take it from there.
“We were desperate for a centre-half, I’m so glad at least one came in and like I said before, he does have Premier League experience.
“That’s where we want to be so it’s a statement of intent really.
“We still could have done with a bit more in my opinion but we are doing really well and those play-offs are getting closer.
“I’m optimistic for the second half of the season and hopefully Goode hits the ground running.”

Goode has made just four top-flight starts for Thomas Frank’s side this term.
The 26-year-old made 12 appearances in all competitions last term as the Bees were promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs.
