Charlie Nicholas: Celtic star striker must not make this mistake
By Matt Farr
Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has handed Celtic star Moussa Dembele some career advice.
The 20-year-old striker has been in sensational form for Celtic this season, after netting 19 goals in 36 matches, attracting the interest of several high-profile clubs.
West Ham were believed to have had a £20million offer for the striker’s services rejected earlier this month, but Nicholas has urged Dembele to think carefully about his future.
Nicholas left Celtic to join Arsenal back in 1983, but admitted the decision to move to a big-London club was one that he should have considered more carefully.
He advised Dembele not to make the same error, describing West Ham as a club surrounded by mayhem.

He told the Daily Record: “If Moussa does go, make sure it’s the right club. I should have gone to Liverpool. I’d never say a bad word about Arsenal, but those are the choices we make.
“Are West Ham the wrong club at this time? Absolutely. It is a team surrounded by mayhem. They fight and argue and scrap with each other.
“Would he rather join a scrap or have a great experience going for a treble? I’d know which I’d rather if I had this choice.”
Dembele’s form in front of goal has put Celtic firmly on course to lift their sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
They are currently 19 points clear of rivals Rangers with a game in-hand, and are unbeaten in domestic competitions since the start of the campaign.
West Ham, meanwhile, have been chasing a new goalscorer this month, and were said to have lined up Dembele as a top target.
Their interest in Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe appears to have cooled, after the Black Cats made their stance clear on wanting to keep him at the club.
Football Insider verdict
Dimitri Payet’s latest outburst only proves Nicholas’ point about West Ham. The club are in a shambolic state, and while he has the potential to become a Premier League star striker, this is neither the time nor the place for him to do it. Dembele has just joined Celtic, and should focus instead on maintaining his form and continuing to improve as a player, before making such a move to the English top-flight. Many before him have tried and failed to make an impression there, and he should not rush his decision. Celtic shouldn’t even be considering letting him go either. He won’t be there forever, but Celtic Park is the best place for Dembele at this moment in time.
